The 3rd Power DRGN 100 Head is a 100-watt, hand-wired valve masterpiece born from an iconic collaboration between guitar legend Joe Satriani and 3rd Power's Dylana Scott. Drawing its vintage soul from the legendary 1967/1968 Plexi Super Lead 100, the DRGN 100 features a host of modern, studio-grade innovations that deliver creative fire.
At its core, this amplifier is hand-wired point-to-point on vintage-style turret boards, built in the USA with meticulous attention to detail. The massive power section utilises a Quad of Svetlana Brown-base EL34 Power Valves to deliver approximately 100W of Class AB power with a high 495V DC plate voltage. This power is supported by custom-wound, USA-made Heyboer Power & Output Transformers, Vintage-style F&T electrolytic capacitors, and premium Mallory and Orange Drop coupling capacitors throughout.
Tonal flexibility is revolutionary, starting with the Plexi/Cascade Preamp for instant switching between classic Plexi clean/crunch and modern, articulate high-gain saturation. You can further sculpt your sound with the Dual Tone Stack Circuits, toggling between the sweeter, balanced Vintage JTM voicing and the aggressive, mid-focused Modern JMP voicing.
The patented Hybrid-MASTER Volume Management is a game-changer: it simultaneously controls the volume, limits DC current, and regulates DC plate voltage, allowing the amp's full valve tone, feel, and responsiveness to remain perfectly intact at any volume, from a whisper to a roar.
The studio-grade Mastering Section includes the Ultra-Presence High-Frequency Shelving Filter with four switchable corner frequencies (1.7, 3.7, 4.3, and 5.2kHz), a PUSH Control for low-end punch, and a switchable FOCUS Mode for vocal-like lead tones. Connectivity is professional, featuring a foot-switchable, all-valve, Class-A Tube Buffered FX Loop, a foot-switchable +Gain Switch for instant rhythm-to-solo boost, and a MUSICAL SILENT MUTE. The DRGN 100 includes a 4-Button Pro Foot Switch and convenient back-panel Bias Test Points for valve maintenance.
