The Wampler TCD (The Compulsion Drive) is Brian Wampler's obsessive re‑imagining of one of the most iconic distortion circuits ever created. Inspired by the legendary Fulltone OCD, the TCD captures the unmistakable growl, sparkle and amp‑like response of the original while adding far greater tonal control, versatility and refinement. It is raw, harmonically rich and explosively dynamic, yet precise and controllable under the fingers.

At the heart of the TCD is a circuit celebrated for its touch sensitivity and harmonic complexity. Wampler has modernised and expanded it, giving players a distortion that cleans up beautifully when you roll back your volume and roars with saturated authority when you dig in. It feels like part of your amp rather than a pedal in front of it, enhancing harmonic content, adding sustain and keeping chords clear and articulate.

The Gain control ranges from edge‑of‑breakup crunch to full‑on distortion. A powerful three‑band EQ (Bass, Mids, Treble) lets you sculpt everything from tight, focused drive to wide‑open tones with shimmering clarity. The Level control provides all the output you need to push your amp or sit perfectly in the mix.

A Mode switch offers two distinct clipping flavours: traditional gain structure when down, and a harder‑hitting, tube‑like cascaded MOSFET stage when up. Inside the pedal, two DIP switches unlock four classic circuit variations. The Fat switch adds deep low‑end warmth, while the Diode switch introduces an extra clipping diode for tighter, more saturated distortion. These hidden options give the TCD boutique‑level customisation and serious tonal range.
