Ian Thornley is a Suhr icon. The frontman for Canadian rock band Big Wreck, he is a versatile and accomplished player who fuses a number of techniques and styles to create complex and powerful songs. A long time Suhr artist, the Ian Thornley Classic S is the follow up to his ever popular JM model.
These guitars feature all the vintage elements we love but back it up with super stable and reliable modern-day benefits. The Alder Strat body is finished in a thin lacquer and then subject to Suhr's own antiquing process, subtly and authentically antiqued it features natural checking and light ageing. The ultra-thin nitro will wear naturally to allow each guitar to develop its own roadworn look. The Sonic White is a great traditional colour and it really suits this uber cool vintage modern hybrid.
The Roasted Maple neck has a satin finish for a smooth, slick feel. With an Ian Thornley V profile, rolled frets, a 16" radius and unlike his JM, a Roasted Maple fingerboard, this a substantial but real comfortable guitar.
Benefitting from 2 Suhr Aldrich humbucker pickups it offers an alternative take on those famous Strat tones, rich, punchy and ready to growl. With a Suhr ML Standard in the middle you get even greater tonal variation. The tone controls double up as push/pull pots to run the neck and bridge pickups in parallel to offer you ultimate tonal control.
Complete with a hardshell case, this is one of the coolest signature guitars around!
