The PRS Vela is easily one of the coolest PRS guitars ever designed. With its offset body shape, it's perfect for players who want the build quality and reliability PRS are known for, but with something that looks and feels a little different to play.
This Vela is part of a limited production run built using solid black limba bodies, which is a tonewood usually reserved for Private Stock instruments. black limba is known for its incredible figuring, and because every piece is different, each guitar ends up with its own unique look and character. Alongside looking great, black limba is also a fantastic tonewood. It has a warm, articulate voice with plenty of clarity, so you can really hear each individual note within a chord. This guitar also features a satin nitrocellulose finish, which feels great to play, but also allows the wood to resonate much more effectively compared to other finish types.
The neck is crafted from maple and features a slick satin finish, allowing for quick and easy movements across the whole neck. It includes PRS’ pattern regular neck shape, which is one of their most popular build options. It is also the same neck shape used on standard production S2 Vela’s, so if you already own one of those, you’ll feel right at home. The east Indian rosewood fingerboard is dark in colour and features a 25” scale length, 22 frets, 10” radius, and old school bird inlays.
It's loaded with a set of high-quality PRS pickups that really enhance the warmth and clarity that comes from the black limba body. It features a PRS DS-01 humbucker in the bridge alongside a PRS Narrowfield in the neck. The DS-01 delivers plenty of bite and definition, making it great for cutting through a mix, while the Narrowfield brings warmth and articulation with excellent note separation. There's also a coil-tap function built into the tone control, allowing you to split the bridge humbucker.
Other key features include a PRS plate style bridge, Phase III non-locking tuners, nickel hardware, and a PRS premium gigbag.
Only 200 guitars will be built with this specification, so if you want to secure one for yourself, we recommend getting one quick, these are sure to sell out fast!
