Let’s talk about Ross Pedals, if you’re a pedal nut like us then you’ve probably already heard of these guys, if not, then you’re in for a treat! A real cult brand, Ross was one of the leading lights of early effects pedal exploration.
Founded by the legendary Charles “Bud” Ross, Ross pedals found favour with a variety of leading players. Bud Ross was an innovator, and alongside his pedal creations, he founded Kustom Amps and the hand-held police radar, what a mind! You’ve almost certainly heard of Kustom Amps, these beauts were pure solid state magic and played most famously by the Fogerty brothers in Creedence Clearwater Revival!
Ross passed away in 2018, and Ross Pedals became nothing more than a happy memory. But not for long, and if there’s one guy who you would put complete faith into to revive a forgotten pedal company, it’s Joshua Heath Scott, pedal guru and founder of JHS!. And that is exactly what Josh has done, resurrected a tonal icon!
Working closely with Bud’s family, Josh and the team at JHS have recreated 5 iconic Ross pedals. The Chorus, Compressor, Fuzz, Distortion and Phaser.
Crafted under the watchful eye of Josh at the JHS facility in Kansas, Missouri, these pedals are the real deal. We’ve had them in the studio this week and the results are mega, rich, vintage flavours and textures but with the ease of use and reliability that all JHS pedals are known for.
The single button, dual knob setup is consistent across the range but is by no means limiting, you get great tonal control and variety, there’s so much scope to craft each effect to your own requirements.
A fitting tribute to a real icon of the guitar industry, JHS and Ross pedals are a match made in tone heaven. With a fantastic history, and a new fearless leader at the helm, Ross pedals are back and ready to rock once again!
