And that is exactly what they’ve done, introducing the BRAND NEW Origin Effects Halcyon Gold Overdrive.
No prizes for guessing the inspiration behind this rad little box of tricks, it is of course the legendary Klon Centaur, the most elusive and almost mythical of all overdrive pedals! But if there is one company who can really capture the magic of the Klon and take it to new heights, it’s the guys over at Origin Effects!
Featuring Origin’s proprietary Adaptive circuitry, the Halcyon Gold responds flawlessly to the dynamics in your playing and pick attack. It’s super responsive and reactive and really highlights the incredible mid-heavy voicing, previously a very difficult thing to achieve without very specific vintage diodes, but Origin have found a way!
So what’s different? Well, as per usual, Origin Effects have equipped the Halcyon Gold with a real cool special feature, the ADAPT switch. Engage this switch and the mid-forward voicing will gradually fade away as the pedal cleans up, giving you classic Klon tone with your guitar cranked but revealing the full spectrum of your clean tone as you roll back the volume knob.
