One band that really understood the assignment are 2-piece rock lords, Royal Blood. Fronted by vocalist and bass player, Mike Kerr, Royal Blood have pioneered an incredible approach to substituting actual guitar for heavily processed bass guitar, with Kerr bringing his hard hitting, riff focused playing to centre stage.
A long time user of Fender Jaguar basses, he’s often seen sporting a stunning Custom Shop model, Mike Kerr and Fender have now teamed up to officially release the BRAND NEW Fender Mike Kerr Jaguar!
The Alder body is typically comfortable, as all Fender Bass's are, and it’s finished in the brilliant Tiger’s Blood Orange, it looks real slick and a proper statement. The Maple neck with a Slab Rosewood fingerboard features a slim Modern "C" profile, designed for speed and comfort. This bass is super easy to navigate, with 20 frets, a 9.5" radius and a compact 30" scale length make this bass feel familiar and supremely comfortable.
The pickup selection is something really ace, with a custom humbucker at the bridge and a Wide Range humbucker in the middle, you get a huge tone with insane clarity and power. Mike Kerr’s basses have to cover a whole lot of ground, they take the role of both bass and guitar, he underpins the band's entire sound, and this Jaguar doesn’t fall short in the slightest.
This is such a well thought out instrument, a real triple threat, it sounds great, feels great and looks great, it’s the whole package!
