New Release | Fender Limited Edition Cory Wong Stratocaster
Funk fisted groove-master Cory Wong is one of the most genuine players around. His right hand precision and agility is something you’ve just got to experience, it’s awe inspiring and underpins everything else that his band mates do, his playing is the sun that everyone gravitates around.
A little while back Fender announced the incredible Cory Wong Stratocaster, a killer Strat with a few really tasty appointments and features. Inspired by a number of ‘Highway One’ Fender Strats that Cory has used over the course of his career, the biggest talking point was the slightly scaled down Alder body, a really interesting feature for a guitar such as this.
It’s a truly superb guitar, which is exactly what you’d expect from a guitar that was developed by a player of Cory’s calibre. But he hasn’t stopped there, as we’re now really excited to share with you 2023’s Limited Edition Fender Cory Wong Stratocaster, a limited run take on his stellar signature model!
So let’s check it out! The lightweight Alder body is finished in a pair of super slick colours, Daphne Blue or Surf Green, and benefits from a thin satin urethane lacquer. A nice middle ground between gloss and Nitro, the satin finish is certainly reminiscent of those killer ‘Highway One’ models that were so popular.
With a bolt on Maple American Ultra neck this Strat has a super bright and snappy tone and thanks to the Modern "D" profile you can navigate the neck with ease. The Rosewood fingerboard includes a 10"-14" radius, 22 frets and a 42.86mm nut width. It’s great underhand, not too thin and not too unwieldy, perfect for those punchy licks and driving chord work that Wong had made his own.
Classic tone comes courtesy of a trio of Seymour Duncan Cory Wong Clean Machine pickups which deliver an awesome overdriven tone whilst retaining brilliant clarity and shine. They’ll always cut through the mix, bringing the thunder at any opportunity!
Bringing funk and rhythm to the fore is Cory’s signature move, and nothing is going to do that better than the Limited Edition Cory Wong Stratocaster, a funk machine for the ages! Complete with a deluxe case, hair tie (for muting the tremolo springs, just like Cory) rubber strap lock washers and a custom neck plate, this is the real deal, a funk masterpiece!
