The Martin 00-18 has always been a favourite amongst artists who value nuance, balance and intimacy - and the 2025 update takes this classic to a new level. With a smaller Grand Concert body and a host of thoughtful refinements, it's the perfect companion for fingerstyle players, singer-songwriters and anyone who wants vintage tone in a compact, expressive package.
At the heart of the update is Sitka spruce Golden Era (GE) scalloped bracing, borrowed from Martin's Modern Deluxe Series. This gives the 00-18 a more open, breathy tone with enhanced sustain and dynamic response, ideal for delicate fingerpicking or articulate strumming. Paired with solid mahogany back and sides, it delivers a warm, punchy midrange and clear trebles that sit beautifully in a mix or solo performance.
The GE Modified Low Oval neck profile retains its familiar comfort but has been subtly reshaped for a more vintage feel, with minimal added mass. A thinner ebony fingerboard, gently bevelled comfort edge, and refined string spacing at the nut make this one of the most playable small-bodied Martins to date. The new GE modern belly bridge features smoother corners for added comfort, while aesthetic touches like a long diamond neck transition, angled nut, and sleeker vintage-style heel complete the update.
This is the kind of guitar that inspires - and it always has. Bob Dylan used a 00-18, Muddy Waters brought the blues to life with one.
