The Ibanez AZ AZ22S1F in Transparent Black Sunburst brings the modern AZ design philosophy into a sleek, versatile HSS format. A flamed maple top over an alder body gives the guitar a balanced, resonant voice with a touch of visual sophistication. The Transparent Black Sunburst finish highlights the figuring beautifully, giving the instrument a refined, boutique look that fits perfectly within the AZ family.
The roasted maple AZ Oval C neck is heat-treated for stability, durability and a smooth, broken-in feel. Paired with a jatoba fingerboard, 22 jumbo stainless-steel frets and a 25.5" scale length, the guitar offers fast, precise playability with long-term reliability. The ergonomic contours and sculpted heel make upper-fret access effortless, reinforcing the AZ reputation for comfort and performance.
The HSS configuration uses Ibanez Classic Custom pickups: Classic Custom S single-coils in the neck and middle positions, and a Classic Custom H ceramic humbucker at the bridge. These pickups deliver a wide tonal range, from sparkling cleans to punchy rock tones. What truly unlocks the guitar's versatility is the dyna-MIX9 switching system with the Alter Switch, which expands the standard 5-way layout into nine distinct pickup combinations. With a single press, the Alter Switch reconfigures the wiring to access additional series, parallel and combined voices, giving you everything from traditional single-coil sparkle to thicker, humbucker-like tones. It is a powerful system designed for players who need maximum flexibility without complication.
A T106 tremolo bridge provides smooth vibrato action and solid tuning stability, while the narrow 10.5 mm string spacing offers a controlled feel for intricate picking. Chrome hardware keeps the aesthetic clean and modern, and the guitar ships with 10-46 strings for a familiar, ready-to-play setup.
