The Ibanez AEG1221 is a sleek, modern 12string designed for players who want great plugged-in performance, comfortable playability and a stage-ready aesthetic. The AEG body shape is slim, lightweight and incredibly easy to handle, making it ideal for electric players crossing over to acoustic, or anyone who wants a 12string that doesn't feel oversized or unwieldy.
Finished in Black Out, it has a clean, contemporary look that works beautifully on stage. The combination of a spruce top with sapele back and sides delivers a balanced, articulate tone with plenty of shimmer, exactly what you want from a 12string.
The AEG1221 features a Comfort Grip Nyatoh neck paired with a Macassar ebony fretboard, offering a smooth, fast feel that's noticeably easier on the hands than many traditional 12strings. The shorter 634mm / 25" scale also reduces tension, making chords and extended playing sessions far more comfortable.
Electronics come courtesy of the Ibanez Tbar II undersaddle pickup and the AEQTTS preamp, which includes an onboard tuner and simple, intuitive controls. It's a reliable, natural-sounding system that works well for live performance or direct recording.
Hardware is solid throughout, with black die-cast tuners (18:1 ratio) for stable tuning, black dyed bone nut and compensated saddle for improved resonance, and Ibanez Advantage bridge pins for easy string changes.
This is a well-designed, great-playing 12-string that offers excellent value and a genuinely enjoyable playing experience.
