With a traditional solid Mahogany body, this Les Paul benefits from a majestic hand-picked Figured Maple top for the ultimate tonewood partnership. Rich and super resonant it offers premium tone and timeless aesthetics. The nitro lacquer finish is where things start to get really special though. For as long as the Gibson Custom Shop has been recreating vintage Les Pauls, Tom Murphy has been perfecting the craft of capturing the vibe and feel of the originals. With his distinctive Sunburst finish and meticulous ageing process, Tom Murphy is the go to guy for a true vintage Gibson experience. The three dimensional, Murphy Sunburst finish captures Tom's idea of the perfect Les Paul, it's a playable work of art.
The Long Tenon Mahogany neck is topped with a lush Rosewood fingerboard, with classic Gibson Trapezoid inlays this guitar looks every bit the real deal. The neck is set using genuine hot hide glue, this vintage technique is said to increase tonal response when compared with modern synthetic glue, just adding to this guitars tone monster status. With the Murphy Medium 'C' neck shape it's comfortable and perfectly balanced.
Appearance is nothing without tone and this Tom Murphy Les Paul Standard features a pair of incredible Custom Bucker pickups. According to Gibson these are the most historically accurate PAF clone on the market, with an ultra-rich harmonic quality, it's as close as you can get to the classic Les Paul tone. With CTS pots and a hand-wired harness with Bumblebee capacitors this Les Paul is as good as it gets!
