In 2015 Martin decided to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the iconic D-35 model and this D-35E 50th Anniversary Limited Edition model is a very special guitar indeed. This guitar sounds absolutely unreal and in my opinion it would rival the tone of any 60's D-35 Models.
It features a European spruce top with Vintage Tone System (VTS) combined with East Indian rosewood sides and back wings with a lush East Indian rosewood wedge and maple bindings. The organic wedge is also inlayed on the East Indian rosewood headplate. A black ebony fingerboard and bridge, and Fishman Aura VT electronics complete this model that commemorates an important milestone in Martin Guitar's history.
The new Martin Vintage Tone System (VTS) uses a unique recipe that is based on the historic torrefaction system. The VTS acts much like a time machine in which Martin can target certain time periods and age the top/braces to that era. This focused method allows Martins craftsmen and women to recreate not only the pleasing visual aesthetics of a vintage guitar, but also reproduce the special tones previously reserved for vintage instruments.
This guitar shows some very small signs of play wear but it's mainly the natural nitro lacquer sinkage that stops it being described as brand new.
