Building on the success of 2021s Noel Gallagher J-150 were incredibly excited to announce the Gibson Custom Noel Gallagher 1960 ES-355! Limited to 200 pieces worldwide this Murphy Lab pays tribute to one of the most iconic guitars in British music.
Noel Gallagher's affiliation with ES-style guitars stretches back to the beginning of Oasis, the peak of which was in 1997 when he purchased a 1960 Gibson ES-355. Deemed at the time "too nice" to play, this was initially intended to remain a collector's piece until finally making it to the stage in the early 00s where it has remained a constant ever since.
Featuring a Maple laminate body this guitar is bright and punchy in tone. It's finished in a slick, old school Sixties Cherry Nitro lacquer, helping to deliver a rich and authentic tone. Thanks to the Murphy Labs aging process this ES-355 really does look the part, with loads of lacquer cracking and finish ware this beauty looks like a true Rock n Roll relic!
The neck is something special, crafted from Mahogany; it features a gorgeous Ebony fingerboard, embellished with block inlays. With 22 frets and a 24.75" scale length it feels smooth and comfortable, equally at home playing slick lead work or heavy chord strumming. With hide glue construction, this 355 offers true vintage tonality.
A pair of Gibson Custombucker humbuckers delivers those classic PAF tones, deep, rich and resonant they offer great clarity. According to Gibson these are some of the most historically accurate PAF clones on the market, with an ultra-rich harmonic quality; it's as close as you can get to the classic 355 tone. Finished off with a Bigsby B7 tailpiece and Grover Kidney tuners this guitar is a faithful re-creation of one of the most iconic instruments in Rock n Roll!
