Since its debut back in 1937, the SJ-200 has become a firm favourite with players as varied as Elvis, Pete Townshend and Bob Dylan. With its distinctive appearance and beautifully balanced tone, it's a guitar that has certainly passed the test of time. This Murphy Lab SJ-200 pays homage to the 1957 edition of this legendary instrument.
With a thermally aged Sitka Spruce top paired up with some truly stunning hand picked figured maple back and sides, this SJ-200 boasts a bold, lively tone with loads of power. This guitar really comes alive when you dig in hard! With a period correct aged Dark Natural finish, this SJ-200 really does look the real deal! The ageing and lacquer cracking is truly awesome, the Murphy Lab team have done such an incredible job at capturing the visual charm of what an old 50s Gibson looks like today.
This 1957 SJ-200 features a rounded Maple neck which feels great underhand, allowing for quick and easy movements right across the neck. The Rosewood fingerboard is adorned with traditional Mother of Pearl Graduated Crown inlays, 43.81mm nut width, and 20 vintage frets. It’s comfortable, poised and ready to play.
