Not many guitars can claim to carry the incredible legacy that comes with the Gibson L-5. For over 100 years it has inspired jazz legends, country players, rockabilly and blues greats. Honouring this iconic model, Gibson Custom has reissued this historic model to their core line-up. This 1957 L-5 CES Reissue has been recreated with supreme accuracy to the original late-50s models using detailed scans of genuine 1950's L-5's, for a truly authentic build.
Featuring premium timbers, including a carved AAA Spruce top, which is paired perfectly with a beautiful carved curly Maple back and sides. This fully carved build provides a rich deep tone and incredible sustain, superior to other laminated models.
The Chunky 1950s D shape neck profile is constructed with 3-piece Maple and Walnut which meets the body with a period-correct dovetail joint for a true vintage feel and reliable performance. A 25.5" scale length, bound Ebony fingerboard with Mother of Pearl big block inlays, "birds beak" fretboard extension and 20 medium jumbo frets all come together for a proper vintage playing experience and an enduring approach.
A stand-out feature is the gold Historic ABR-1 bridge with L-5 engraved vintage-style trapeze tailpiece. It not only provides accurate intonation and tuning stability, but it brings a touch of true luxury and timeless aesthetic appeal.
Installed with a pair of unpotted Custombucker Alnico 3 pickups, these provide a harmonically rich and articulate tone which achieves that sought-after PAF sound with aplomb.
This legendary hollow-body guitar oozes class and vintage opulence - a real statement guitar, fitting for player and collector alike.
