Often regarded as one of the greatest bass players of all time, James Jamerson brought all the groove to a multitude of hits during the peak of the Motown era and totally defined a sound. He was instrumental in influencing some of the most notable bass players throughout modern music history, so it's no wonder that Fender sought to honour his legacy with this signature '62 Precision Bass.
This model carries a beautiful and authentic vintage vibe along with some signature touches to help it stand out from the crowd. The alder body and C-shaped maple neck feature Fender's Heirloom nitro lacquer finish (light checking and patina). This combined with the custom-voiced James Jamerson '62 P Bass Pickup provides a truly authentic experience, delivering incredible punchy mids and unmistakeable lows that were so key to Jamerson's legendary sound.
In keeping with its vintage feel, the bass comes with vintage-style mounted pickup and bridge covers, a 7.25" radius on the slab rosewood fingerboard, vintage tall frets, clay dot inlays AND a bone nut.
To finish things off, the bass comes as standard with La Bella 0760M Stainless Steel Flatwound Strings. These were essential to Jamerson's signature voice and bring forth a super smooth touch.
Truly a special release from Fender, this is one soulful bass!
