The Fender Custom Shop do some pretty special things, and with the Custom Shop "B1 Pomo Telecaster" they hark right back to the early days of Leo Fenders vision to create otherworldy instruments to look the part and serve the working musician.
An aged Black Ash body is top bound with a striking aged Firemist Silver Top. Authentically aged, this finish will wear beautifully with time and develop its own character even further. The thin nitro finish also allows the natural resonance of the body to sing and sustain much more effectively. The finish is so thin, you can see the beautiful ash popping right through the Nitro. This only adds to the resonance of the guitar
The Rift Sawn Maple neck has a smooth, authentic, vintage feel. With a 9.50"-12" compound radius, 60s style oval C profile measuring at 1st fret .810" and 12th fret .950", 21 6105 frets, a 1.650" Nut Width and a 25.5" scale length, it's a real joy to play.
With the Telecaster design being considered by many to be the original workhorse guitar, the Custom Shop Pomo Telecaster isn't just a fancy name, it's a special recipe from the Custom Shop, which features a pickup pairing that can deliver the classic Tele' twang along with some deep lows. To assist we have a reverse mounted hand wound '51 Nocaster pickup in the Bridge combined with a Duncan Seth Lover neck pickup, it boasts a versatile and well balanced selection. The wiring is standard 3 way Tele switching but the volume pot is a "Dual stack" design, meaning the Neck Humbucker sees 500K and the Bridge 250K. This can sometimes be a compromise on guitars with a mixture of Humbuckers and Single coils, controlled by a single volume but the Custom Shop have come up with the goods again and delivered all the tone, with no fuss.
Other nice touches include a "Showmaster" neck heel and plate.
