The Fender American Vintage II 1973 Stratocaster recreates the look, feel and sound of a classic early 70s Strat, built with period accurate woods, hardware and electronics. By 1973, CBS era design cues had become defining features of the Stratocaster, seen everywhere from rock and funk to fusion and prog. With the rise of televised live music shows, the Strat's large headstock, dual string trees and bold styling became cultural icons in their own right.
This model features an ash body finished in Olympic White, paired with a 1973 C shape maple neck and a 7.25 inch radius maple fingerboard with vintage tall frets. A trio of Pure Vintage 73 staggered pole Stratocaster pickups delivers the bright, articulate and slightly more aggressive character associated with early 70s Fenders, constructed with period correct materials including cloth covered wire, fibre bobbins and alnico magnets.
Hardware is authentically recreated, including a Pure Vintage synchronised tremolo with bent steel saddles and a cold rolled steel block, vintage style F stamped tuners, a large headstock with dual string trees and a three bolt neck plate with Micro Tilt adjustment. Every detail is designed to match the feel and function of the originals, with much of the hardware still produced on original 50s and 60s Fender factory machines.
The American Vintage II series represents Fender electrics in their purest form, built for players who appreciate vintage tone, feel and craftsmanship down to the last screw.
