Description

The Epiphone 1962 ES-335 Reissue is a high-quality recreation of a classic semi-hollow electric guitar design, developed in collaboration with Gibson Custom. This model captures key design elements from the 1962 Gibson ES-335, a year not currently covered in Gibson Custom's reissue lineup, offering players a unique opportunity to experience historically accurate features at a more accessible price point.

The guitar features a semi-hollow body made from 5-ply layered maple and poplar with a solid maple centreblock. This construction enhances resonance while significantly reducing feedback compared to fully hollow models. The rounded double cutaways allow easy access to the upper frets, and the single-ply cream binding adds a clean and elegant touch to the top, back, and fretboard.

The neck is crafted from a single piece of mahogany and carved into a 1960s SlimTaper C profile, offering a fast, comfortable playing experience. The rosewood fretboard includes 22 medium jumbo frets and vintage-correct mother-of-pearl small block inlays. Rounded fretboard edges enhance comfort during extended play, while the side dot markers are placed in historically accurate positions for added authenticity.

For tone, the Epiphone 1962 ES-335 Reissue is equipped with a pair of USA-made Gibson Custombuckers. These pickups are known for delivering a warm, articulate sound that closely matches the tonal character of ES-335's of that period. The electronics are hand-wired using CTS potentiometers and Black Beauty paper-in-oil capacitors, components prized for their durability and tonal fidelity.

High-quality hardware includes an ABR-1 Tune-O-Matic bridge and a historically inspired aluminium stop bar tailpiece, both of which contribute to the guitar's excellent sustain by anchoring the strings directly to the maple centreblock. Epiphone Deluxe tuners with Double Ring Keystone-style buttons ensure tuning stability and smooth adjustment. A Graph Tech nut enhances tuning consistency and durability. A vintage-style hardshell case with a plush interior and Gibson Custom-inspired graphics is included for secure transport and storage.
