Its construction includes a solid maple centreblock with both arched spruce top and flame maple back, enhancing sustain and feedback resistance while maintaining the acoustic resonance and open tone associated with semi-hollow body instruments. This design makes the Starplayer TV Velvet suitable for players seeking a versatile guitar that can handle everything from clean jazz to driven rock tones.
Equipped with Duesenberg's proprietary Split/King Duo-Coil pickups, the Starplayer TV Velvet offers access to both genuine single-coil and true humbucker tones. Unlike traditional coil-splitting systems, the Split/King design uses a dedicated coil to extend a full-size single-coil into a complete humbucker, ensuring both modes maintain clarity and character. Each pickup operates independently via two discreet mode-select switches located on the pickguard. These switches feature an adjustable mechanism that allows them to be positioned flush for an unobtrusive setup or raised for quick tonal adjustments.
To ensure peak playability, each Starplayer TV Velvet is Plek processed - a high-precision fret levelling system used to eliminate uneven frets and reduce fret buzz. This process is followed by meticulous hand-finishing and a full professional setup by Duesenberg's luthiers. The result is an instrument that offers smooth, consistent action across the entire neck. Every guitar is signed internally by the luthier responsible for the final setup, reflecting the individual care that goes into every build.
The Starplayer TV Velvet also features custom matte finishes that enhance its distinctive appearance while offering a refined tactile experience.
