At Peach, we strive to keep our estimated pricing current, but prices may occasionally be subject to change. Lead times can also vary and are sometimes difficult to predict. Please feel free to reach out to our sales team anytime for the latest information.

The Dr Z Reactive Reducer is the next evolution in Z attenuation, replacing the long running Brake Lite with a more dynamic, more responsive and more affordable design. The Brake Lite could no longer be produced due to the unavailability of its large Ohmite wire wound resistors, but demand never slowed. Rather than recreate it, Dr Z designed a superior successor: a hand wired, reactive attenuator that preserves the true feel of a cranked valve amp at manageable volume.
Unlike resistive attenuators that can flatten dynamics or alter the playing response at low settings, the Reactive Reducer uses an inductive coil to mimic the behaviour of a real guitar speaker. Its load follows the natural bell shaped frequency curve of a speaker, clipping lows, softening extreme highs and preserving the midrange where electric guitars live. This maintains touch sensitivity, harmonic content and playing feel even at the deepest attenuation settings.
A simple three way toggle provides -3 dB, -11 dB and -18 dB of reduction, giving you the perfect amount of control whether you are on stage, in the studio or playing at home. A bypass switch lets the amp signal pass straight through when attenuation is not required. There are no IRs, DSP stages or reamping circuits, just a pure, reactive load designed for players who want to push their amp's output section into rich saturation without overwhelming the room.
Optimised for 8 ohm loads but capable of handling 4 and 16 ohm configurations, the Reactive Reducer supports amplifiers up to 50 watts. It is robust, affordable and hand wired in the USA, offering a simple, musical and highly effective solution for modern players who want everything they need and nothing they do not.
*Not recommended for use with 2 ohm loads.
