Cort Acoustics Gold Series | Gold-Passion - Natural Glossy

After a successful launch of the highly-praised Gold-Edge in 2021, we are proud to stock the Gold-Passion as the worthy successor and the new flagship model of Cort's prestigious Gold Series. The main focus of Gold-Passion is 'liveliness', with enhanced playability and responsiveness thanks to the inclusion of unique bevel cutaway and specially chosen set of quality tonewoods, as well as the usual Gold Series treatment is featured such as Aged-to-Vintage torrefied top, DoubleLock neck joint and walnut reinforced neck for maximum stability, sonically enhanced UV finish, and hand-rolled body and fret edge treatment.

Modern Concert Body Shape

Inspired by the popular grand concert body shape, the newly designed Modern Concert body shape is Cort's own rethinking of the smaller acoustic body type that was carefully designed for enhanced resonance and responsiveness. Together with an unique bevel cutaway, the Modern Concert shape also boasts playing comfort.

Bevel Cutaway

The bevel cutaway was meticulously laid out to provide easier and comfortable access to the higher frets, and to retain the acoustic properties of the body as the traditional cutaway compromises the tone.

Torrefied Solid Engelman Spruce Top

More tactile and sensitive than Sitka spruce, Engelmann spruce exhibits a clear and smooth top-end that is responsive to a light soft touch, making it ideal for solo fingerstyle players or folk/pop singer-songwriters where the acoustic guitar takes centre stage.

Ebony Bridge Pins

The high density of Ebony wood keeps the fundamental acoustic sound focused and tight with greater sonic projection than plastic, enhancing the transfer of the string vibrations throughout the soundboard top, body and the neck.

'AAA' Grade Solid Flamed Maple Back & Sides

Flamed Maple is like a combination of the low-mids of mahogany, and the rich overtones of rosewood. This versatility makes Flamed Maple stand out for both fingerstyle playing or strumming as well as being a perfect match for the spruce top.

Aged To Vintage (ATV) Top

A vintage instrument is the holy grail of acoustic guitar tone. The wood on the top cures and opens up more over time. This unleashes a tonal quality that is missing in new instruments - until now. Using a special process Cort call ATV (Aged To Vintage), they treat the solid sitka spruce top to give it that big and open tone of a decades-old, highly-sought-after acoustic. This torrefaction process delivers that amazing tone to you right out of the box.

Hard Maple Neck and Ebony Fretboard

The maple neck provides a brighter punchier tone than the conventional neck materials such as mahogany, and the ebony fretboard provides a crisp and responsive sound in conjunction with the body's acoustic resonance.

Hand-Rolled Body & Fret Edge Treatment

The sharp edges on the body, fretboard and frets are all handrolled to make them round, smooth and ultra-comfortable to touch and play. This process is highly complex and time-consuming and requires the skilled workmanship of experienced craftsmen.

Neck Profile

Cort has developed comfortable dimensions in neck thickness from the headstock to the heel to increase comfort in your hands and optimise playability. To assure consistency, Cort uses stateof-the-art CNC machines to accurately mill each and every neck. Each neck is then carefully sanded and finished by skilled craftsmen who have a dedication and passion for building some of the best acoustic guitars in the world.

DoubleLock Neck Joint

The connection between a guitar's neck and body is another key factor for great sound. On the Gold, Cort started with a tight fitting traditional dovetail neck joint. They then reinforced it by adding a bolt. This DoubleLock neck joint maximises the transfer of tone and enhances resonance on the Gold.

Walnut Reinforced Neck

The neck on the Gold has been reinforced for added rigidity and stability using two special inserts. This is constructed with two pieces of walnut installed to add stability while still retaining the natural properties of wood to further upgrade the Gold.

Sonically Enhanced UV Finish

UV finish is about 30% thinner than standard finishes and this allows the wood to 'breathe' and vibrate more freely. This process requires a shorter drying time and reduces chemical interaction between the finish and the woods, which is ideal for your instrument's longevity. Due to the much shorter drying time and the lack of Volatile Organic Compounds (VOC) in the UV finish material, it is also an environmentally friendly process. This high-tech finish is strong enough to be resistant to scratches but lightweight enough to improve the natural acoustic resonance of the body for a full, rich tone.
