Another absolutely stunning guitar from Anderson. Just take a second to appreciate how beautiful this looks! It is so nostalgic yet modern - a total object of desire. The guitar is a Drop Top Hollow; the 'Hollow' part of the name refers to the chambers in the body and the 'Drop Top' refers to the gorgeous, highly-contoured body with the stunning exotic wood top. This is something that Anderson have been doing for 35 years and they were pioneers of the design. Thanks to the chambered alder body, this beauty weighs in at just 6lbs and 7 ounces, making it incredibly comfortable, not to mention resonant. The top is quilted maple with classy binding on the edge.
Not only is the guitar a total looker, but it feels so good to play. Anderson always use Stainless Steel frets (in this case jumbo ones) and compound radius (12-14") fingerboards, meaning the guitars feel so slinky. Not all Stainless Steel frets are equal - Anderson eclipses a lot of the competition with theirs - just imagine a bend or vibrato feeling frictionless and it'll give you the idea. The neck is caramel maple, which not only gives it a lovely colour but keeps it extremely stable, with the moisture baked out of it. The neck profile is their most modern - the 'Even-Taper' which is slim and fast - just what you'd expect for a guitar with this nostalgic 80/90s hot-rod feel to it.
The guitar features pickups that are perfectly voiced - closer to vintage in terms of their sound-quality, but with modern enhancements. The five-way switch works in the typical 'S' style. However, the middle position can either be the middle pickup, or the neck and bridge pickups together. There is also a mini-toggle switch that splits the humbucker. The single-coil pickups are from the SC Series, sweet and vintage sounding, but with no hum. The HF humbucker has a vintage voice - creamy and not over-the-top. It's an incredibly versatile set of tones, giving you a guitar that can do it all.
Finally, the guitar features the Buzz Feiten tuning system, meaning that the guitar uses tempered tuning and sounds great all over the neck. This stops certain chords from pulsing and sounding out of tune, whilst others sound fine.
We see a lot of guitars here and it's clear that Andersons rank amongst the finest.
