The Taylor Builder's Edition 814ce Honduran Rosewood/Sinker Redwood is a premium 6-string Grand Auditorium electro-acoustic guitar that combines exceptional tonewoods, innovative bracing, and player-focused design elements. This guitar is built with a sinker redwood top and Honduran rosewood back and sides. Sinker redwood, reclaimed from old-growth logs submerged in Northern California rivers, offers a unique tonal character often described as "cedar on steroids," possessing warmth and a bold response with enhanced brightness. Honduran rosewood, denser than Indian rosewood, contributes a harmonically complex overtone profile with a smooth, balanced response.
Taylor's V-Class bracing system enhances the guitar's sonic performance by increasing volume, sustain, and improving intonation. This innovative bracing pattern allows the top to be both stiff and flexible, resulting in a more powerful and harmonically rich sound. The guitar also features the Expression System 2 (ES2) electronics, a behind-the-saddle pickup design that captures a wider range of the guitar's dynamic properties for exceptional amplified tone.
The Builder's Edition 814ce prioritises player comfort with features like a bevelled mahogany armrest, a bevelled cutaway for easy access to the upper frets, and chamfered body edges. The neo-tropical mahogany neck and West African Crelicam ebony fretboard provide a comfortable playing experience. Other premium appointments include Gotoh 510 tuning machines with an 18:1 ratio for precise tuning, Element fretboard inlays, and a gloss finish with a shaded edgeburst treatment. The guitar comes with a Taylor deluxe hardshell brown case for protection.
