The Suhr Oso is a newly developed short-scale electric guitar designed to offer a comfortable playing experience, precise performance, and reliable build quality. It expands on the idea of a compact T-style instrument and delivers a modern, streamlined feel that appeals to a wide range of players. Its 3x3 tuning layout, adapted from the Suhr Aura, works with the subtly angled headstock to improve tuning stability and create a balanced, familiar feel in the hand.
Every part of the Oso is engineered for smooth playability. The body and headstock are shaped to complement each other visually and ergonomically, resulting in a guitar that feels consistent and well-proportioned. Blind fret ends, milled with high accuracy, remove any risk of sharp edges along the fingerboard, ensuring a distraction-free playing surface. Combined with the 24.625" scale length, the guitar offers slightly looser string tension, easier bends, and closer fret spacing that benefits players who prefer a more relaxed and responsive feel.
Its construction begins with a mahogany body, chosen for its warm, resonant tonal character and balanced midrange response. The mahogany satin-finished neck with an Historic C (.850"-.950") neck profile provides a smooth, fast feel that reduces friction during position shifts. The Indian rosewood fingerboard features a 10" radius and heavy nickel frets, offering both stability and a consistent playing surface.
The Oso's pickup configuration offers strong versatility. The SSV humbucker in the neck position provides warm, rounded tones with enhanced clarity, making it suitable for clean passages and articulate rhythm work. The SSH bridge pickup delivers increased output and focused mids that help push a tube amp naturally, while still retaining the openness and character expected from a vintage-inspired humbucker. This combination gives players a wide tonal range suitable for rock, blues, pop, and beyond.
Additional premium hardware ensures dependable performance. The recessed TonePros TP-6 bridge improves tuning stability and enhances sustain, especially when paired with Suhr Locking Tuners for fast string changes and secure tuning. A Black Tusq nut contributes to consistent tone and improved tuning accuracy across all strings. Each Oso ships with a Travel Pro Premium Softshell Case, offering lightweight yet durable protection for transport and storage.
