To celebrate the release of his new album “Sandstorm”, Eric Steckel has teamed up with Knaggs to release a special run of his fan-favourite signature model, the Kenai TS. This special edition is limited to just 15 guitars worldwide and features some unique visuals that set it apart from Eric’s standard signature range.
The Eric Steckel Kenai TS is an evolution of Joe Knaggs’ original Kenai design. It features a traditional single cut body crafted from lightweight mahogany and figured maple. This tone wood pairing has been used by luthiers for decades, and for good reason, it delivers a powerful, rich tone that has loads of resonance and clarity. This special edition Kenai TS features a T1 Top, which is Knaggs’s highest grade of figured maple. You’ll find prominent figuring across the entire top. One of the most unique features of this special edition is the “Sandstorm Fade stain” which gradually works its way across the top and transitions in colour. The finish type used is nitrocellulose, which is extremely thin and allows the wood to resonate much more effectively when compared to other finish types.
The Mahogany neck is extremely comfortable and is built to Eric’s exact specifications. The neck profile is vintage inspired and feels great in your hands. The ebony fingerboard is dark in colour and is accentuated by maple binding, which contrasts beautifully. The ebony fingerboard features a 24.75” scale length, 22 frets, and 12” radius, and Sandstorm block inlays, which are colour matched to the top stain. Thanks to the single cut design, you have great access to the upper frets, allowing you to hit every note with ease!
With a Tune-O-Matic bridge and tailpiece, this guitar has great tuning stability and offers a playing experience unlike any other. With a duo of Seymour Duncan Candy humbuckers you get a smooth, articulate tone. These humbuckers are a special recreation of the Alnico III humbuckers found in Steckel's 1960 Les Paul. This set is beautifully dynamic and delivers incredible tone.
