The JHS 3 Series Ring Modulator delivers everything from gentle, musical movement to full metallic chaos, all in the simple and affordable 3 Series format. Built in Kansas City, Missouri with high-quality components and a streamlined three-knob layout, it offers a wide range of ring modulation tones without overwhelming the player. Whether you want subtle harmonic colour or experimental textures, this pedal makes ring mod easy to explore.
The Blend knob mixes the ring modulation against your dry signal, allowing anything from a barely-there shimmer to fully wet, clangy modulation. The Frequency control sets the speed of the internal oscillator, moving from slow, pulsing movement at lower settings to bell-like, metallic tones at higher ones. The Mode toggle selects between two distinct algorithms.
Down is Earworm mode, inspired by the discontinued Way Huge Ringworm. Here, the Tweak knob introduces an auxiliary LFO that adds wobble and movement to the modulation, turning a fixed ring mod into something alive and animated. It can be subtle and musical or wild and unpredictable depending on how far you push it.
Up is Green Lantern mode, inspired by the Green Ringer wave-rectifier circuit. This mode produces a natural-sounding octave effect alongside the ring modulation. Tweak blends the octave from off to 100 percent. Used subtly under a solo, it adds a harmonic presence that feels almost acoustic. Pushed hard with gain in front, it becomes far more aggressive and experimental.
Ring modulation has been part of guitar and synth history since the 1970s. The 3 Series Ring Modulator brings the full range of the effect into one of the simplest and most approachable packages available today.
