James Tyler Guitars | L.A.X Studio Classic - Fiesta Red

The L.A.X Studio Classic takes the fundamentals of James Tyler's meticulous craft and exacting build standards and presents in a more stripped back, recognisable S-style format. The same incredible quality and supreme playability without some of the visual flare you may expect on the Studio Elite models.

Body: The L.A.X is crafted from solid alder, a tonewood known for its balanced tonal response and light weight. This gives the guitar a lively resonance and a clear, punchy sound.

Neck and Fretboard: The neck is made from quartersawn maple, paired with an Indian rosewood fretboard. This combination provides exceptional stability, smooth playability, and a warm, rich tonal character. The fingerboard also features a 10"-12" compound radius.  The neck shape is Tyler's "Standard" 64 profile, measuring .825" at the 1st fret and .950 at the 12th, and has "Narrow/Tall" frets.

Pickups: With a full compliment of Alnico 5 pickups, this guitar features an HSS (Humbucker-Single-Single) configuration with JTS5 Hot Laura pickups in the neck and middle positions, and a Hot Retro pickup in the bridge. The JTS5 Hot Laura single-coils in neck and middle positions provide a good low end and a strong dynamic midrange, these pickups are round and responsive. The Hot Retro humbucker in bridge position complements these perfectly with plenty of punchy mids for smooth overdrive.

Electronics: The control system features a 5-way blade switch, master volume, midboost preamp, and master tone controls. The active midboost preamp is a high gain/low impedance circuit that gives you lower lows and higher highs with a 2dB volume increase - on top of this, you can utilise the midboost control to increase the mids and output further. This preamp can be easily bypassed at the press of a button. Press the middle button to engage neck and bridge pickup mode, this applies to all but position 3. Engage the third button to access series/parallel options for the bridge humbucker. By selecting positions 2 or 4, having all buttons engaged, and the preamp turned down, you can easily access the legendary Dan Huff sound, which is super inspiring and enjoyable to play through. This tone isn’t something you can get from any 3 single coil instrument, it really is unique to James Tyler instruments.

Bridge and Hardware: The L.A.X Studio Classic is equipped with a Gotoh two-post tremolo with James Tyler branded bent steel saddles, offering excellent tuning stability and smooth performance. Locking Hipshot tuners add to the guitar's reliability, ensuring that it stays in tune even during heavy playing sessions.

Case: The guitar comes with a Tyler Signature Hardshell Case, providing premium protection and durability.

Finished impeccably in a sleek matte Fiesta Red, the look is topped off with Tyler's black 'Explogo' printed onto the matching headstock, with the playful message "Built in America by Assholes" stamped on for good measure!
