When the Gibson Thunderbird was first introduced back in 1963, it truly revolutionised the world of electric basses, no one had ever seen one quite like it! Its asymmetrical body design was truly radical and ground-breaking, even today it’s contemporary design still looks fresh and super eye-catching. Our friends at Gibson are excited to present the next evolution of this legendary design!
This Thunderbird features a solid Mahogany body with the original reverse body shape player know and love. The body retains the appearance of the original neck-through design with a raised section running through the middle, however this bass actually features a glued-in set Mahogany neck. Thanks to the Mahogany construction, this bass is super powerful in tone and really delivers those classic tones.
As mentioned above, this Thunderbird features a glued-in set Mahogany neck with a fast playing SlimTaper profile, which is one of Gibson’s most requested neck shapes thanks to its comfortable nature. The fingerboard is crafted from Rosewood and features a 34” scale length, 20 frets, 40.64mm nut width, and acrylic dot inlays. This Thundrbird also features the fan favourite non-reverse headstock design, which makes tuning super easy.
With a pair of EB bass humbuckers, the Thunderbird delivers powerful tones. These pickups have plenty of output and give you a great low-end punch. Each pickups is connected to a separate volume control, allowing you to use each pickup individually, or blended together. You also have a master tone control, allowing you to sculpt your sounded further. Other key features of this bass include Hipshot Ultralite Mini Clover tuners, and a Hipshot Supertone bridge.
Gibson hardshell case included.
