As one of the founders of inspirational American noise-rockers Sonic Youth, Kim Gordon quickly built a reputation throughout the '90s as an ineffable and effortlessly cool player. After the band split in 2011, she continued to cement her legacy, earning herself multiple Grammy nominations in recent years for her incredible solo work.
It's fitting then, that she has teamed up with Fender to bring a signature Jazzmaster that looks just as seamlessly stylish as her music. With it's visually striking black and white design, it keeps all the offset charm of a vintage Fender but stands on its own with a few aesthetically pleasing spec enhancements.
The Alder body is finished in Olympic White with a matching headstock, with a 3-ply black pickguard paired with contrasting cream neck pickup and zebra open humbucker in the bridge. With white tone and volume controls as well, it is dripping with stylish energy befitting of this iconic rockers status.
A Maple Modern C shaped neck with smooth satin urethane finish is topped with a slab Rosewood board. Featuring 22 medium jumbo frets, 9.5" radius, 25.5" scale length and 1.65" nut width for a super comfortable playing experience. The fingerboard is inlayed with white Pearloid blocks which look absolutely killer.
Loaded with a Seymour Duncan JB TB-4 humbucker in the bridge position, and a Player Series Alnico 5 Jazzmaster single-coil in the neck. The humbucker provides all the roaring grit perfect for huge rock tones while the single-coil in the neck position gives you more of a vintage-inspired articulation, while providing a higher output than a more traditional example.
Fitted with a Jazzmaster bridge, Mustang saddles and vintage-style floating tremolo tailpiece, you can easily perform super smooth vibrato whilst retaining accurate intonation and superior tuning stability. The ClassicGear tuning machines provide further reliability while keeping the vintage look in tact.
This Limited Edition Kim Gordon Jazzmaster brings a fresh approach on a classic Fender model, delivering all the adventurous and boundary pushing style that has defined Gordan's playing ethos for decades.
