Eddie Van Halen was one of the most influential guitar players of all time, the original King of shred; his tapping technique has spawned a thousand impersonators. Known for his love of tinkering and modding his own guitars, EVH deliver guitars built to Eddies exact specifications. The Wolfgang design really is a fan favourite, named after Eddie's son, its a straight Rock n Roll machine!
This Wolfgang Special features a solid Basswood body with a carved archtop. Basswood is known for its lightweight nature and for having a balanced, neutral tone, which makes it a consistent and strong choice for this model. The double cutaway body shape allows for great access to the upper frets, so if you're playing some Eddie inspired shred, you'll have no issues hitting the high notes.
The bolt-on Quartersawn Maple neck is super comfortable and easy to play, allowing for fast playing. The help with a super stable design, the neck is reinforced with graphite rods. If you do find yourself needing to adjust the truss rod, this can be achieved through the spoke wheel located at the base of the neck. The Ebony fingerboard is dark in colour and works really well against the Maple. It features a 25.5 scale length, 12-16 compound radius, 22 jumbo frets, 41.3mm nut width, and pearloid dot inlays.
With a pair of custom-designed EVH Wolfgang Alnico 2 humbucking pickups, you get that iconic Eddie Van Halen power and punch straight out the box. They're mounted directly to the body, which really helps with sustain. This guitar also features an EVH branded Floyd Rose bridge equipped with Eddies D-Tuna mod, allowing you to instantly drop your bottom E string putting you in Drop D.
This Distressed Ivory Limited Edition version plays tribute to the touring guitar Eddie used on the 2015 "Different Kind of Truth" world tour. The distressed Ivory over Black finish was requested by him at the last minute to replace his number 1 guitar for that tour. It's a super cool, stand-out look and a fitting tribute.
