The Epiphone J-200 Studio EC in Natural brings a much loved Gibson acoustic design to players who want classic style and a bold, clear voice at an accessible price. As part of the new Epiphone Studio Acoustic Collection, it takes inspiration from the original Gibson SJ-200, a super jumbo known for its impressive projection but with a cutaway for easier access to the higher frets.
The J-200 Studio EC features a flat top body crafted from layered maple back and sides, and a solid spruce top. It has a responsive, balanced tone with excellent projection which makes it a versatile choice for any genre.
The Mahogany neck is joined to the body with a glued-in tapered dovetail joint, and features a 1960s SlimTaper D neck profile. This profile is super comfortable and feels great in your hands, ensuring easy playability. It also features a 12" radius rosewood fingerboard equipped with 20 standard frets, a 25.5" scale length, a 43mm nut width, and traditional pearloid graduated crown inlays.
The J-200 Studio EC keeps the classic look of the original with its iconic tortoise pickguard featuring graphics, deluxe tuners and a sixties Kalamazoo style headstock with mother of pearl details. It also features a rosewood 'moustache' bridge with a compensated saddle for accurate intonation.
A Fishman S Core under saddle pickup and Fishman Presys II preamp make this guitar ready to perform in any setting. The side mounted preamp offers extensive tonal tweaking with it's volume, bass, treble, and phase switch controls with built-in tuner.
This is one seriously cool looking and sounding instrument. If you want classic Gibson tones at a more affordable price point, then this is a great instrument to take a look at.
