The Charvel American Neo-Classic San Dimas Style 1 is a premium, USA built instrument that takes us straight back to the golden era of rock ‘n roll! With 80s inspired visuals alongside Charvel’s USA build quality, this guitar is an absolute must have!
The San Dimas body shape has been a Charvel classic since the 1980s. It was one of the first body shapes Wayne Charvel was building in his workshop and was named after the city of San Dimas, which was near his workshop located in Covina. With this design, Wayne really did give birth to the “Super Strat” concept, a style of guitar that went on to change the course of guitar and music history. Still to this day, players reach for Super Strat-style instruments, and a lot of that can be traced back to Wayne’s original design. This all-new American Neo-Classic San Dimas Style 1 pays tribute to the early designs and is once again hand built in the United States of America.
This guitar features a traditional San Dimas body shape crafted from alder, which was Wayne’s tone wood of choice during the early days of the company. He loved it for its great natural resonance, sustain, midrange punch, and warm tone. The San Dimas body features some lovely contours, which makes playing both standing up and sitting down super comfortable and easy.
The neck is built from 1-piece quartersawn maple and features graphite reinforcement rods, which helps to increase stability and resistance to humidity and temperate changes. The neck is extremely comfortable and easy to play. It features a “Speed Neck”, which is thin and allows you to quickly navigate the guitar. 80s spec Charvel guitars really do need a thin, fast playing neck, so it’s great to see one included on this guitar. The maple fingerboard features rolled fingerboard edges, a 12”-16” compound radius, black dot inlays, a 25.5” scale length, 22 jumbo stainless steel frets, and a 42.86mm nut width. It also features Luminlay side dots, which makes it super easy to know where you are when playing in dark environments.
With a pair of super versatile pickups, this Charvel really can hold its own in just about every situation. It’s loaded with a Seymour Duncan ’59 in the neck, and a Seymour Duncan JB in the bridge. This is one of the most popular pickup combinations of all time. It gives you access to creamy neck tones, as well as high-output bridge tones that work great for riffs and lead sections.
The top mounted Floyd Rose 1000 series really pays tribute to Charvel’s love of tinkering and modifying guitars. It gives you rock solid tuning stability and allows you to dive domb with ease! It also features a set of high quality Charvel die-cast tuners.
If you love classic Charvel guitars from the 1980s, then you’re going to love these. They play great, look super authentic, and are really fun and inspiring instruments. It’s impossible to not smile when playing one of these.
