OK, so here at Peach we are lucky enough to regularly have good guitars come through our doors, but there have been few we've been looking forward to receiving as much as this. We already consider the Taylor 814ce to be current industry standard in terms of the top notch acoustics, but here's an extra special version with Brazilian Rosewood Back and Sides. The tonal warmth and volume produced by this guitar is 2nd to none, and we've A/B tested it against a regular 814ce and the difference is pronounced.
The process of getting this imported to the country wasn't an easy one at all as we've had to apply and get the CITES certification to enable us to legally have the endangered Brazilian rosewood imported to the UK.
What we can say about the source of the Rosewood is that the wood used in these guitars came from old reserves held by Taylor. It is all CITES compliant and acquired prior to its listing, it of course comes with a certificate which states this. As a result, this is not new Brazilian Rosewood and the guitars being made from this source are very limited in quantity, only a few hundred sets to be had in total. After these have been sold, no one is going to be able to get any more, so these are going to become extremely collectable.
Here's what Taylor have to say about the 814ce:
"Taylor's popular 814ce offers players the ultimate all-purpose guitar. Its balance, warmth and articulation are great for fingerstyle, it has enough punch as a strummer to front a band, and the top-end power will fuel lead runs without getting shrill. It's a great choice for a gigging player looking for one guitar that can cover it all. The revoicing of the 800 Series has brought greater warmth, a more mature midrange, and a looser, more luxurious low end to the 814ce, thanks in part to the customized bracing and a new, custom-calibrated Elixir HD Light string-gauge set. Premium appointments include maple binding and back strip, rosewood top edge trim, a rosewood pickguard, Taylor's new Element fretboard inlay in mother-of-pearl, a marbled fretboard, and new Expression System 2 acoustic electronics. The guitar features a Venetian cutaway and includes a Taylor deluxe hardshell case."
