Alex Lifeson is a pioneer, as one third of Canadian rockers Rush, he has been at the forefront of experimental rock guitar since the late '60s. With over 40million records sold worldwide and 24 Gold discs, Rush have been at the top of the game for over 40 years. As a player Lifeson is known for his complex musicality and use of alternate tunings, harnessing effects in a way that only he can, he forms a formidable pairing with bass player Geddy Lee. They produce a sound so vast and textured between them it's hard to believe Rush are a 3 piece.
Although predominantly a Gibson player, Lifeson has a long affiliation with PRS, and it is PRS who have developed the PRS SE Alex Lifeson Signature Acoustic. Using similar unique appointments as the Private Stock Lifeson acoustic, the SE features a thinner body, Solid Spruce top and Dao sides and back. Similar in tonal quality and appearance to Koa, Dao is rich and lively and has some delicious figuring.
The thinner body is to reduce feedback from the huge stage rigs Rush use. This guitar is more for live application than as a casual strummer, it's been designed to conquer some of the world's biggest stages and the complexity of Rush compositions. The Mahogany neck features a 25.35" scale length, Rosewood fingerboard and classic PRS Birds in Flight inlays. It's comfortable and super responsive.
With an undersaddle pickup with volume and tone controls, it's the perfect companion every time you hit the stage. It's a well thought out and executed guitar, definitely worthy of both the name of PRS and Alex Lifeson.
