Another amazing acoustic guitar from the popular "Retro" Series from Martin.
The retro series is a collection of Martins most popular classic models, including the OM28, HD28 and now for 2014 - the classic 000-18, which has had a 'facelift' from the 000-18's we've seen in recent years. Before you even plug this guitar in, you'll notice the guitars beautiful vintage appointments, which were inspired by an original 1940's example, from the Martin Museum So it has faux tortoiseshell binding, aged toner top and Grover stay tite tuners, to name just a few upgrades. It just looks and sounds so much more 'vibey' than the pale looking standard series guitars.
The icing on the cake, is the amazing pickup system, which isn't just an off the shelf unit. For each model in the retro series, Martin would take a prime example of a vintage model into the studio, in this case, the original 1940's guitar mentioned above and they 'imaged' the guitar using a variety of different microphones, so effectively you have the sound of the amazing 1940's guitar miced up using those super expensive microphones, all built into the pickup system of the guitar. So whatever you chose to plug this guitar into, whether it's a high quality acoustic guitar amp or PA system, you'll have those studio quality sounds at your fingertips. Plus you still have some tweakable features and an onboard tuner.
This guitar is an amazing instrument in it's ownright, so with the addition of the pickup system, you have a guitar for all seasons.
