Retro Wind P Bass
The Retro wind P-bass pickup is a uniquely Monty's take on vintage P-bass tone. Based on the pickup from a 1970 P-bass and fine-tuned with a few little tweaks, this pickup has a vintage voice that perfectly balances depth and clarity.
The thing that really struck Monty's about the original 1970 P-bass pickup was how much clarity it had; the original pickup could cut through even the most bloated of mixes. Equally, it was slightly absent in the bottom end, lacking the thump required for a truly great P-bass sound. Monty's have rectified this in the Retro Wind, creating a pickup that matches the top end of the originals with a tastefully beefed up low end. The result is a pickup that has just the right amount of everything; with tight lows, present upper mids and an ever-so-slightly-hotter-than-vintage output, this is a pickup to really make you heard.
Like all Monty's single coil pickups, the Retro Wind is only partially potted. This keeps the centre of the coil free from wax, resulting in increased clarity and responsiveness. This pickup feature vintage-correct pushback cloth wire and forbon flatwork.
