Description

The Gretsch Custom Shop do some pretty special things and really push the boundaries of what it means to play a Gretsch Guitar. Fresh of the workbench this Custom G6128CS 1957 by Stephen Stern is from the Fender Winter 2021 Custom Shop Event

Stephen Stern is known across the globe as one of the Gretsch Masterbuilders, a select group of the worlds most esteemed luthiers. With this Godly status, any guitar with his name attached generates a huge amount of interest, and rightly so.

With a Maple top on a chambered Mahogany body, the G6128CS Jet is finished in the super slick Tahitian Coral. This finish will wear beautifully with time and develop its own character even further. It also allows the natural resonance of the body to sing and sustain much more effectively compared with other finishes. The NOS finish gives the appearance of a New Old Stock guitar, one that has been perfectly preserved since leaving the factory and doesn't feature any kind of ageing or relic work. With gold hardware across the board this beauty really does stand out. The Jet has a really rich harmonic power. By letting air resonate between the top and the body through its chambered Mahogany construction, the Jet has a super lively and articulate tone.

The Mahogany neck features a "C" profile, comfortable underhand and offering a great position for both heavy chord work and more delicate lead playing. Featuring a Rosewood Fingerboard adorned with Hump Block Inlays, a 12" radius and 22 Vintage Frets. This is one super easy to navigate neck.

Loaded with a pair Seymour Duncan DynaSonic Bridge pickups you get all that classic Gretsch tone and more, they are incredibly dynamic and respond well to every touch. With the 3-Way switch and classic Gretsch controls you can really make this your own. The Rocking Bar Bridge and Bigsby B3C Trem unit allow for brilliant vibrato and a stable playing platform, in conjunction with Gotoh Tuning Machines you can expect great tuning stability.

Supreme quality from top to bottom and shipped in a Gretsch Custom Shop hardcase, it's easy to see the Gretsch Masterbuilders are so highly regarded. Guitars of this calibre just don't come around every day, we love it and we're pretty sure you will too!
