Jimi Hendrix was the original guitar hero, he took electric guitar playing into a different stratosphere and remains to this day, one of the most important guitar players ever. It only seems fitting that the Fender Custom Shop would honour him with the Jimi Hendrix Stratocaster. Inspired by one of his most famous models, Izabella, this guitar was the weapon of choice for the classic Woodstock 1969 performance of Star Spangled Banner.
A traditional select Alder body is finished in the super Olympic White finish. This guitar has been painstakingly recreated to look the same as that very morning when Hendrix strapped this guitar on at Woodstock. Purchased at Manny's Music in NYC in '68, this guitar (Serial Number 240981) was slightly modified to reflect Hendrix' needs as a left-handed player, including being drilled for a strap button on the lower horn.
The Flat Sawn Maple neck features a 7.25" radius for a superb playing action without any choking. The '60s C shape and 21 vintage style frets offers a really comfortable playing experience, while the larger Strat headstock, vintage style tuners and American Vintage tremolo give this guitar a real vintage Hendrix vibe.
With a trio of handwound Fender '69 Strat pickups it delivers all the sweeping, versatile tones you would expect from a Strat. Rich and smooth, it's a premium Stratocaster tone.
Only the best will do in tribute to the greatest, Mr James Marshall Hendrix
