One of the biggest surprises of NAMM 2018 was the reveal of a stunning line of solid body electrics from the Master of high end acoustics, Mr George Lowden. While his acoustics are widely considered to be the best Britain has to offer, it's been a long time since he ventured in to the electric game, but were really glad he has!
The Lowden GL-10 is everything you would expect from a Lowden guitar, tone and exotic aesthetics complementing each other perfectly. Using only Master Grade materials and an integral five piece neck to body construction, this is 40 years of rich guitar history come to life.
The Mahogany body is perfectly balanced, resonant and with a gorgeous Tasmanian Blackwood top, as visually appealing as the backs on Lowden acoustics. With a hand rubbed oil finish, it has a really organic feel that doesn't stifle the tone or sustain, while the brass lined string holes and brass tone plate embedded within the body, tempt out the kind of tones you dream about. The C stands for chambered, this brings the GL-10 down to a more comfortable weight without compromising on tone.
A 5-piece Mahogany neck features a Pau Ferro decorative splice and Ancient Bog Oak headfacings for an ultra-premium feel. The 12" radius, 630mm scale length, 22 frets and a C shape profile make this guitar feel familiar and really inspiring. Loaded with a duo of Lollar P90s, you get unbelievable clarity and tonal response, smooth, dynamic and versatile, it's the pinnacle of master tone.
