The Fender Custom Shop do some pretty special things, and with the Custom Shop '51 Telecaster they hark right back to the early days of Leo Fenders vision.
The lightweight Ash body is finished in a Vibrant Nocaster Blonde nitro lacquer Lush Closet Classic. Authentically aged, this guitar was built as if it was bought new in its respective model year, played maybe a few times per year and then carefully put away; it features a few dings, a checked finish, lightly oxidised hardware and aged plastic parts. This finish will wear beautifully with time and develop its own character even further. It also allows the natural resonance of the body to sing and sustain much more effectively compared with other more modern finishes.
The 2A Quartersawn Maple neck has a smooth, authentic, vintage feel. With a 7.25"-9.50" radius, 10/56 "V" shape measuring .910" at the 1st fret and 1.000" at the 12th fret, 21 frets and a 25.5"scale length, it's a real joy to play.
With the Telecaster design being considered by many to be the original workhorse guitar, the Custom Shop '51 Telecaster needs a pickup pairing that can deliver the classic Tele' twang. With a pair of hand wound 50-51 Blackguard pickups, it boasts a versatile and well balanced selection.
The original '51 Telecasters are the stuff of legend, a real collector's piece. This Custom Shop '51, well that's a player's guitar!
