Hand picked by us during a recent trip to the Fender Custom Shop facility in Corona, California. There were 3 UK dealers on this trip and as we entered the Custom Shop conference room to pick the stock we wanted, it soon became clear that we all wanted the same guitars! However, most of the guitars on display were one-offs, so the fairest way was to have our names picked from a hat, to see who would "win" the chance to purchase the guitar. The luck was with me that day, we snagged 11 out of 14 guitars!
Built by legendary masterbuilder Yuri Shishkov.
Based around 60's Strat, so it has an Alder Body, quarter sawn maple neck with a AAA grade rosewood fretboard.
Not only does this look like an old guitar, it actually feels like one. It has a 7.25" radius and when you combine that with a perfectly executed fret job, you're left with a feel like no other. A lot is made of super flat radius's on Strats but it does change the feel, especially when you go flatter than a 10" radius. With a 7.25" radius, the fret job has to be perfect and this one certainly is. I have other strats in the shop with flatter fingerboards that aren't as easy to play as this one.
Pickups are a set of superb sounding 1960 units, which have the right balance of chime and punch
