The Fender Custom Shop do some pretty special things, and
with the Custom Shop '52 Journeyman Relic Telecaster they hark right back to
the early days of Leo Fenders vision.
With the appearance of a vintage guitar this Custom Shop model benefits from all the playability and reliability of a brand new one. A lightweight Ash body is finished in a classic Nocaster Blonde Journeyman finish. The Journeyman is a very lightly aged nitro finish; this gives the look and feel of a vintage guitar that has been lovingly cared for over the years. This finish will wear beautifully with time and develop its own character even further. It also allows the natural resonance of the body to sing and sustain much more effectively compared with other more modern finishes.
The quarter sawn Roasted Maple neck has a satin finish on the back for a smooth, authentic, vintage feel. With a 9.50" radius, 22 frets and a 25.5"scale length, it's a real joy to play.
With the Telecaster design being considered by many to be the original workhorse guitar, the Custom Shop '52 Telecaster needs a pickup pairing that can deliver the classic Tele' twang. With a hand-wound Twisted Tele' pickup at the neck and a Broadcaster at the bridge, it boasts a versatile and well balanced selection.
The original '52 Telecasters are the stuff of legend, a real collector's piece. This Custom Shop '52, well that's a player's guitar!
