One of a gorgeous pair or hard to come by Brazilian Rosewood Taylor guitars we've had in recently. This one is something else, the quality imparted from the wood is extenuated wonderfully by the choice of body size. This thing sounds full, rich and damn loud when you dig in to it.
The process of getting this imported to the country wasn't an easy one at all as we've had to apply and get the CITES certification to enable us to legally have the endangered Brazilian rosewood imported to the UK.
What we can say about the source of the Rosewood is that the wood used in these guitars came from old reserves held by Taylor. It is all CITES compliant and acquired prior to its listing, it of course comes with a certificate which states this. As a result, this is not new Brazilian Rosewood and the guitars being made from this source are very limited in quantity, only a few hundred sets to be had in total. After these have been sold, no one is going to be able to get any more, so these are going to become extremely collectable.
Here's what Taylor have to say about the 810e:
"The rosewood/spruce 810e brings Taylor's latest tone-enhancing refinements to the traditional steel-string Dreadnought, blending driving low-end power with a vibrant upper register for a turbo-charged flatpicking machine. Bluegrassers will love the strong, crisp top-end punch in any picking circle, with robust projection across the entire tonal spectrum. Premium appointments include maple binding and back strip, rosewood top edge trim, rosewood pickguard, mother-of-pearl Element fretboard inlay, and smoky ebony fretboard. With Taylor's onboard Expression System 2 pickup, the dynamics of the player will translate loud and clear."
