Description

Scheerhorn L Body Honduran Mahogany

What a breathtaking instrument. This guitar feels phenomenal and the tone and build is just sublime.

Tim Scheerhorn was headed for a career as an engineer, before deciding to change courses and become an instrument builder and revolutionize Dobro design and construction. He is, quite simply, building some of the best Dobros that have ever been built.

Tim redesigned the Dobro from the ground up. He has always used solid woods, instead of laminate tone woods. He took the Dobro to be an acoustic instrument, and wanted to make the most resonant guitar he could build. He felt that the sound well inside resonator instruments "locked all the resonant qualities of the top and back" inside the guitar.

During his career as a boutique Dobro builder, Tim enjoyed good relations with his friends at National Reso-Phonic.  Fast forward, Tim has commissioned NRP to build production models of his iconic L-Body guitars.  These are handcrafted in San Luis Obispo, California - Built to Tim Scheerhorn's unique specifications, utilizing his components for that signature sound.

These instruments are built in low production numbers, offering an affordable guitar of heirloom quality without breaking the budget.
